This week was fairly good to the pantry and freezer again. Not big but enough to keep in the kitchen and out of trouble. In following Robin's lead from last week and Erin's challenge have a few pictures of what my house looks like this time of year.
Tomatoes, green beans, cannelloni beans and shelling beans
The last of the bell peppers headed for the freezer
A little look at one side of my pantry. Have been working on getting it organized.
Then comes the mess in the kitchen. or more or less the dining room
And there is the stove most of the time.
Be sure to check out our host,
The Gardener of Eden
and see what others are squirreling away for winter.
Looks like you've been a very busy bee :) your pantry is awesome, with all that space available to store all those jars.
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely pantry! isn't it just wonderful when it is full of stuff you canned your self
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. I did so little this week. Most of my preserving was earlier in the summer. I still have a few things to do, but not many.
ReplyDeleteYou have some pantry, Wilderness! Well stocked for when you are snowed in. LOL How long were you without power that last time?
ReplyDeleteDo you want some miniature irises? I had to dig up that bed and divide them and I have more than I know what to do with. Purple and possibly some white that are no more than 12 inches high when they bloom. Let me know. They will ship easily.
You are so organized! That is one big, nice pressure canner too. Looks much like the one I used to use.
ReplyDeleteWhat a warm and inviting home you have! That's the way a house should look during canning season! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous look inside your house. I love it all - from the pantry shelves filled with beautifully preserved goodies to the kitchen hardware - really lovely.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenny. The pantry is in the basement in the laundry room. That is only one side of it. When I get the other side organized I will take a picture.
ReplyDeleteMrs. P we depend on all the canning and freezing I do to eat all winter. Old age and limited income isn't all its cracked up to be.
Thanks Daphne. It will be another couple of weeks at least when we get the first threat of frost that I will start going crazy trying to get everything taken care of.
Thanks Marcia. We were without power for 19 hours. I would love the iris but I don't have any place prepared to plant them and no time to really do it this fall. I have been working on my back flower bed which has another 24 hours at least of work and also cutting a lot of trees that I need to burn. Then I am sure will be looking at a frost within the next 2 weeks so the garden will need to be picked down and canning for a good month steady.
Dave only organized some times. Been getting ready for the onslaught of food that will soon be going in there I hope. That is a fairly new pressure canner. Finally gave up on my grandmothers that was about 70 years old about 2 years ago. It served 3 generations quite well.
Thanks Robin. This house was my husbands dream home unfortunately he only got to spend 4 years here with me. We moved in 9 years ago. I designed the kitchen and it is just wonderful. When are you coming up to visit?
Liz thanks, glad you love the house. It is very warm and cozy and yes I have just about every kitchen gadget etc. that anyone could ask for. I am very fortunate.
