Harvest Monday 6/4/12

Sitting here watching it rain.  It has not been a spring for getting gardens planted so not much to harvest.  Did pick another 6.5 pounds of rhubarb.  We got 6.6" of rain in May mostly at the end when I would normally be getting gardens in.  So far this month we have had 1.2" and looks like will get at least another inch today and showers to continue everyday until Saturday.

I did get the 2 plots at the community garden planted with onions, mung beans, green peppers, paprika pepper, celery, brussel sprouts, carrots and beets.  Not sure it anything will germinate if our highs for the day don't get out of the low 50's soon.

The little veggie garden is planted here with broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, basil and lettuce so far.  Still need to plant dill and radishes.

The big veggie garden got 520 pounds of manure on it yesterday but ran out so had to go get more at walmart.  By the time I got back it was raining so that isn't even really ready to till say nothing of planting.

Check out our host, Daphne's Dandelions, and see what others are harvesting.  Hope everyone is having a better start at this years gardening than I am.

  1. Hopefully the rain will let up soon for you and you can get that garden underway. In the meantime, enjoy that rhubarb!

  3. Hope you get some sunshine, we are having quite a bit of rain too, put in my soy beans but with the rain and cool weather the seeds may rot, will see. Looking forward to hearing about your mung beans harvest.

  4. Did you plants seeds at the community garden, or plants? I would think that peppers take such a long time to mature (and like heat) that it would be hard to grow them directly from seed in Wyoming...

  6. Thanks everyone for wishing the sun may come back to the mountains soon. Like Daphne brrr. To be 43 here the next 2 morning. Nothing is going to grow or germinate in this weather. FGK I start most everything inside. Our growing season here is from June to September if we are lucky. Allison that is a lot manure but it is also a lot of garden. About 1200 square feet. Norma will keep you posted on the mung beans. Right now I just hope they germinate.

  8. Well you can certainly send all that rain my way! The last rain I had was .8" on March 18. Now it's running three water hoses and trying to keep everything alive in the heat!
