Basil oil. It is a much prettier green than the picture shows.
Picked some of the tarragon I plan on tearing out since it has literly taken over my one perennial bed.
This is the quart Tarragon Vinegar that is steeping
Last I picked what chive blossoms I had and made a pint of Chive Blossom Vinegar. Thanks Daphne and Annie's Granny for the idea.
I wish my tarragon would grow like that. I don't use it in a lot, but when I need it I like to have it.
ReplyDeleteHmmm....I have never grown tarragon. Now you have given me idea!:)
ReplyDeleteI have found the tarragon to be very invasive. This foolish plant gets 5' tall every year and I think it about 3' wide in every direction. It does not dig out easily either.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you use the basil oil and the chive vinegar for?
ReplyDeleteI made meat sauce over pasta the other night and used a little bit of the basil oil to flavor the meat while I was browning it. Also good to make pasta with oil, garlic and parmesan cheese. I like pasta without red sauce once in a while.
ReplyDeleteThe chive oil you can use anywhere you would use vinegar like a vinaigrette dressing.
What do you do with the vinegars? Can't say that I'm a fan of vinegar, but maybe I would like herbed vinegar.
ReplyDeleteI grow tarragon too. So far it is behaving itself, but I have a friend that has a shrub of it as big as yours! So I put mine in a spot where it would have enough room. And I have lots of friends and neighbors who love it, don't grow it, and hate paying the high price in the grocery store for it.
