Harvest Monday 12/05/11

Well I am so happy.  I can boast a big harvest this week.  I picked the first parsley from my Aero Garden.
It was a nice little haul from 2 pods.  Used it on my Linguini with white clam sauce.

Please drop by Daphne's Dandelions and see what others harvested this week.

  1. Awesome! Those Aero Gardens can produce quite a bit of fresh greenery from what I have seen.

  2. I can't keep up with my basil. I don't really need to freeze anymore and I don't use it a whole lot when I am cooking this time of year. I only have 3 pods of it and I need to pick again as it is hitting the lights.

  4. Wow, I didn't know Aero Garden can produce that much herbs. My daughter has one but she's not using it, I'll have to see if I can borrow her toy for the winter and try it out before purchasing one.

  9. Mrs. Pickles, I love my aero garden. I only use it in the winter so I can say I am gardening. The only thing I have used it for is herbs but now they have set ups so you can do tomatoes etc. in it.

Mac you need to get it and try it out. I actually save the growing sponges and clean them when I shut down. I use my own seed. I find their seed kits to be very expensive but you can buy just the replacement sponges. This is the 3rd planting with the ones that are in there now so I will toss them this spring. That parsley was just 2 pods.

Robin thanks. The basil is going nuts this year.

    Lynn it was yummy.

Norma, they are fun to play with and see things grow.

Mary fresh herbs so matter how small a harvest are great.

Holley yes since nothing will be growing outside here for another close to 6 months those fresh green sure are good. I have 2 pods that didn't germinate so am thinking of planting a little leaf lettuce in those.

Diary they are expensive but if used all winter they pay for themselves in a couple of year.

They have an insert that you can buy to use for starting plants for the garden and I am thinking of getting it for the spring. I am also now using the water soluble fertilizer that I use on my house plants rather than the fertilizer you can buy from them and it seems to be working just fine.

  10. What a fun device that is. It must be a delight to get some fresh herbs when nothing is growing outside.

  11. Michelle I love it. It keeps my growing addiction alive all winter long. I got a sale add today from Aero Garden and I ordered the garden seed starter kit for this spring today. I hope it works then I will try to figure out how I can make my own plugs for it as their stuff is expensive.
